Lexus Australia has recommenced taking orders of its flagship NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid.
LEXUS REOPENS ORDERS ON NX PLUG-IN HYBRID, ES PETROL DISCONTINUED
Lexus has now fulfilled all outstanding orders for the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and reopened order books after unprecedented demand for PHEV technology prompted a transition to expressions of interest (EOI) last year.
This pause has allowed Lexus Australia to shore up PHEV supply well into 2025 and beyond.
Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Pappas thanked NX 450h+ customers for waiting patiently to take delivery.
“We thank the many hundreds of customers who placed an order for their outstanding loyalty and patience, and also extend our thanks to those who showed interest in NX plug-in hybrid in the interim.
“The pause was to assist dealers in managing expectations and focus on providing a premium customer experience,” Mr Pappas said.
“We also worked extremely closely with our production teams in Japan to ensure we would have sufficient volume moving forward.”
Lexus dealers have already accepted fresh orders for the NX flagship, which is offered exclusively in F-Sport grade with Enhancement Pack 2, priced at $95,900 excluding on-road costs1.
Lexus will make an announcement early next year as to when the plug-in hybrid version of its family sized RX luxury SUV will be introduced.
Demand for the practicality and smooth performance of hybrid powertrains continues to surge, and with deliveries of the brand’s successful ES 300h now at an unprecedented 90 per cent year to date, Lexus has elected to move to hybrid-only in 2025 for its luxury executive sedan and omit the ES 250 petrol from the lineup.
“Lexus has always said our customers will inform us when they are ready to make the switch from petrol to either hybrid or fully electric,” Mr Pappas said.
“Our Lexus ES customers are now telling us they are ready, and we’re listening, as nine out of every 10 deliveries of ES so far this year feature an intelligent hybrid powertrain.”
Deliveries of Lexus vehicles year to date with either HEV, PHEV or BEV powertrains sits at 74.5 per cent, keeping the luxury brand on track to transition to 100 per cent electrified by 2030.
